Planning and preparation is
already underway for the
September 4th Fly-in. The
theme for this event is “A
Salute to All Veterans on the
60th Anniversary of the End of
World War II.” Weather is
expected to be great and a
fun time is expected. It is
anticipated that several
different organizations will be
involved in setting up displays
to honor our veterans. We are
hoping that Missionary
Maintenance will again bring
up their Super Chipmunk and
continue giving rides to those
so inclined.
Any member who knows a
veteran interested in
attending is asked to bring
them along.
Taylorcraft Fly-in to be
Held
The annual Taylorcraft reunion
at Barber field will be
underway the weekend of
July 10-11. Members from our
chapter are urged to attend.
Showing our support for other
groups will generate goodwill
toward our events.
Beach City Fly-in
Beach City’s annual
event took place on Father’s
Day weekend. The weather
was perfect and it is reported that all in
attendance had a great time.
Glasair Project update
Randy Maley has arranged for a
chapter project to be donated to the
Chapter. Through the Donate-a-Plane
program, we are going to be the fortunate
recipients of a Glastar Super 2+ kit.
Attempts to make the trip to South
Carolina to pick up the kit so far have not
come to pass. Two weekends ago, John
Haines and Glenn Davis were making
preparations to go but the plans fell
through and they were unable to make
the journey. Once the project makes it to
Ohio, Don Zimmerman has graciously
offered his garage ,which is adjacent to
the airport, for a place to put the aircraft
together.
Pilot Shack the Place to Be
Saturday mornings seem to be the
time to catch many of the members of
Chapter 1077 at the airport. Local pilots
have been meeting on an informal basis
in the Pilot Shack located at the end of the
T-hangars on the East High Ave side of the
Airport at around 10:00 AM. Lots of late
breaking news items seem to come out of
these ad-hoc meetings. Come join us if
you have the time.
