Fly-in / Pancake Breakfast
Plans are well underway for
the Fly-in/Pancake Breakfast
to be held in the main hangar
at Harry Clever Airport on
Sunday, May 29. A work day
is scheduled for Saturday
morning starting at 9:00 to
clean the main hangar and
make last minute preparations
for this event.
It has been
reported that Missionary
Maintenance from Coshocton
is going to bring up their
smoke-equipped Super
Chipmunk aerobatic aircraft.
Breakfast will begin to be
served at 7:30 AM and will
continue throughout the
afternoon until approximately
3:30 PM. Lunch sandwiches
will begin to be served at
about 11:00 AM for those
wanting something more than
breakfast.
All members are requested
to attend our next meeting on
Wednesday, May 11 to get
the latest details. Also, don’t
forget to spread the word and
invite your friends and
neighbors to share some
quality time with us. As has
been our policy in the past we
will be serving a free breakfast
for the pilots of the first ten aircraft.
Fuel Problems An Ongoing
Concern at Harry Clever
The Airport Commission meeting on
April 10 produced some interesting news
for those who purchase fuel at the self-serve
fuel pumps at Harry Clever. After
receiving a bill from the last
troubleshooting maintenance outfit for
$13,000, the jet fuel pump continues to
lose its prime, but reportedly is not as bad
as had been in the past. More
maintenance is expected to be
performed and a closer look at a possible
air leak in the fuel tank will be considered.
Alan Welch has reluctantly submitted his
resignation to the Airport Commission
citing the extra workload of his new job.
Mayor Brodzinski offered the position to
EAA Chapter 1077 member Terry Henry,
but Terry contends his work situation and
other demands will give him little time to
do a good job.
Flyout Fun Planned
Fair weather is with us again and
plans are being formulated to get all of us
a little time in the air. A regular schedule is
soon to be at hand and more details will
be shared at the next monthly meeting. A
trip to Old Rhinebeck Aerodrome in
upstate New York is still being discussed
and could just be made to happen this
summer. Keep posted for more
information. Saturday mornings seem to
be the consensus of the best time to
schedule. Discussion has also been held
about having a regular Saturday breakfast
for Chapter members and families at the
Aircraft Sales Hangar. With the Airport
Restaurant not being open for breakfast,
maybe we should invite those unfortunate
individuals who fly in to Harry Clever only
to find the restaurant closed.
Chapter Members Looking to Form Flying Club
At the last monthly meeting, a
suggestion was made to form a flying club
to either purchase an aircraft that needs
work or look into obtaining a kit to be built.
There are lots of obstacles to be
overcome, but what better way to share
your skills and be a part of something
exciting. If you are interested or know
someone else who may be interested in
becoming a part of this project, contact
Glenn Davis, Chris Larsen, or Terry Henry
for more information. There will be more
talk about this topic in the future.
Chapter Website Up and Running
Members and interested persons have a
new place to visit on the internet.
Webmaster Christopher Larsen has been very
creative using the internet as a helpful tool
in getting the word out to the public about
our organization and what we are trying to
accomplish. Not only will there be the
latest information on Chapter news and
events, but there is also an active forum
that will allow anyone to ask questions. It
is hoped that each month we can
showcase one of our members. A short
biography would let the world know who
that person is and what interests they have
in the world of aviation. Also, club
members will be able to get their very own
Chapter #1077 email address. Please
contact Christopher Larsen at webmaster@eaa1077.org. Visit often and let us know what you think.
Building a Better Mousetrap
This is the last color issue of the Chapter
Newsletter that will be mailed out to
members and favorite contacts due to the
high cost of printing, mailing, and the time
consumed in getting the newsletter out.
We will be trying something new in
communication procedures. Starting with
the June issue, a black and white copy
will be available to those who wish to
continue to receive the newsletter in the
mail. We are encouraging everyone to
visit the Chapter Website that is mentioned
in the previous notes to get a full color
copy of the monthly publication.
Members can then download the PDF file
and print or save the issue to their home
computer. If you wish to go online to get
your copy or would like to discontinue
receiving our Chapter Newsletter, please
contact the Newsletter Editor, Glenn Davis
by email at skylark@clover.net or by mail
at:

Pilot Shack the Place to Be
Saturday mornings seem to be the
time to catch many of the members of
Chapter 1077 at the airport. Local pilots
have been meeting on an informal basis
in the Pilot Shack located at the end of the
T-hangars on the East High Ave side of the
Airport at around 10:00 AM. Lots of late
breaking news items seem to come out of
these ad-hoc meetings. Come join us if
you have the time.
